Never forget!
A circle three meters wide, cast in concrete, weighing 4.3 tons. Its surface carries a spiral of words: the names of seventy countries, set in letterforms over 80 mm height in size. For the new ground memorial at the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial, I was entrusted with the design and typography — a lasting inscription for the victims’ countries of origin, laid into stone as part of a shared act of remembrance.
Far from the fleeting nature of feeds and posts, this is a medium built to endure. Unveiled on May 4, 2025, during the 80th anniversary of liberation, the memorial extends the International Monument of 1965. The project was realized together with MERA – Landscape Architecture for People and Space, and Gödde-Beton. Phots by mera.la
