Karla - Das Glück der späten Jahre
Karla is a digital platform launched by several Sparkassen—including Halle (Saale), Vorpommern, and Gummersbach—together with the Union Krankenversicherung (UKV). It connects older adults with trusted local service providers, from household support to companionship for medical appointments, with the goal of enabling independent and dignified living. Embracing the motto “Das Glück der späten Jahre” (“The happiness of later years”), Karla simplifies everyday assistance through streamlined, regional services. Initially driven by select Sparkassen and UKV, the platform is now expanding nationwide and is accessible to everyone—regardless of their existing relationship with Sparkasse or UKV.
After first winning the pitch, we challenged the business model during the strategy phase and went on to support Karla for nearly three years. With team 2erpack we developed a unique identity that reframed aging: from a problem to an opportunity. Our creatives shaped an optimistic brand personality with the right name, an emotional claim, an authentic visual world, and an activating corporate design—including age-appropriate typography—that paved the way for the platform’s launch, which we accompanied throughout. In 2023, the campaign we designed rolled out across multiple regions.
